Shashank Shah

Shashank Shah is a Jamsetji Tata Trust Grantee for pursuing advanced research in the field of Corporate Responsibility, and a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Business School, USA. He  completed his doctoral and postdoctoral research in the field of Corporate Stakeholders Management at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, a Deemed University located at Prasanthi Nilayam in India, which is a pioneer in providing Educare (a system of education that blends secular and spiritual knowledge). He received the Association of Indian Management Scholars International Outstanding Doctoral Management Student Award 2010 at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; and the HR College Golden Alumnus Award 2011 from the Sheriff of Mumbai, for his research achievements. He was awarded the President of India Gold Medal and the Governor’s Gold Medal for standing first in the MBA and M.Phil. Programmes at the University. He has published over 70 research-based papers and case studies in peer-reviewed national and international journals and conferences in the areas of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance, Social Responsibility, Stakeholders Management, Values-Based Management and Education; and co-authored four books and two monographs in these areas. His magnum opus 'Soulful Corporations' was published by Springer in 2013 as part of the series on India Studies on Business and Economics. He has presented research papers at international conferences at Harvard University, USA, and INSEAD, France; and has been invited to institutions in Italy, Brazil, Turkey, Malaysia, Japan and India.

Dr. Shah was a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for CSR, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; and an Invited Resource Faculty at Executive Development Programmes in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility organised by Harvard University, World Bank and the Govt. of India; and by the School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He is also International Advisory and Editorial Board Member, Journal of Values-Based Leadership, Valparaiso University, USA; and a Reviewer for the Journal of Human Values (Sage Publications), Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. As Chief Editor of the University’s Publications Division, he has compiled and edited over twenty books on Indian Ethos and Values based on the Message of the Revered Founder Chancellor; and has on several occasions addressed large gatherings on Indian Culture and Spirituality, Values-Based Education and Management.

During his doctoral and post-doctoral tenures, he interviewed over 175 senior business executives, heads of companies, industry captains, academics, subject experts and policy makers, and built a veritable knowledge base of insights in the field of Stakeholders Management, Corporate Responsibility, and Values-Centered Leadership of a collective experience of 3,500 human years.
