Sanjoy Mukharjee is Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong where he is member of the Sustainability, CSR and Ethics Group. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, he obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, and Ph.D from Jadavpur University. He has industrial experience of 7 years. Till 2009 Mukherjee was engaged in research, teaching and consulting on the human dimension of Management with focus on values and culture at the Management Centre for Human, IIM Calcutta. He has been conducting workshops and management development programs on Human Values in Management since 1993.

He has participated in international workshops and academic dialogues at the University of Quebec, Montreal, University of Rochester (USA), Sloan School of Management (MIT), Harvard Business School, Universities, Oxford University, UNESCO, Paris, Stockholm Business School, Copenhagen Business School and Arhus Business School, Denmark. He was also involved in an Indo-Canadian joint venture research project on Corporate Governance in India conducted by IIM Calcutta and York University. Prof. Mukherjee was nominated Aspen Scholar 2002 and was the only Asian invited to participate in a flagship Executive Seminar (2002) and two Leadership Conferences of Aspen Institute in Colorado (2002) and New York (2000 and 2004). Since January 2003, Prof. Mukherjee was the Centre Coordinator of MCHV for more than three years. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the bi-annual international Journal of Human Values published from SAGE. His book titled Corporate Governance, Economic Reforms and Development: The Indian Experience, edited jointly with Darryl Reed has been published from Oxford University Press in 2004. His case study on Corporate Social Responsibility at Tata Steel was published from Asian Institute of Management, Manila in 2002. He has published several articles in national / international journals. He has recently participated in the Second Annual Global Business Ethics Symposium at Bentley College, Boston (May, 2006) and in the Europe-Asia Dialogue on Business, Ethics and Spirituality at Business Ethics Center, Corvinus University of Budapest (July, 2006). Prof. Mukherjee was awarded the Festival Fellowship to attend the Aspen Ideas Festival held at the Aspen Institute, Colorado during July 05-09, 2006. He has also presented a paper on ’Non-conventional Entrepreneurial Learning: Spiritual Insights from India’ in the Professional Development Workshop at the Annual Conference of Academy of Management at Atlanta during August 11-16, 2006.The papers presented in this Workshop have been published in the current Special Issue of Journal of Human Values from Sage on the theme ’Spiritual Entrepreneurship in Learning Organization’ edited jointly by Dr. Arthur L. Jue and Prof. Mukherjee. He was the project coordinator for a comprehensive joint research in association with Tata Quality Management Services on Management of Business Ethics in three Tata organizations (Tata Chemicals, Tata Teleservices and E2E SerWizSol) to evolve a Self-Assessment Tool for the Tata group at large. The Oxford Academy of Total Intelligence invited him to deliver sessions on Spiritual Intelligence and participate in the international seminar on ’Spiritual Intelligence in the Workplace’ in Oxford during March 11-18, 2007. Academy of Management had recently invited him to make presentation in two Symposia titled ’Leadership for Societal Sustainability: Contributions from Eastern & Western Spiritual Traditions’ and ’Teaching Non Linearity in a Linear Environment’ at the last Academy of Management Annual Meet in Philadelphia during August 03-08, 2007.He has recently participated in an International Workshop on European literature and Ethics of Leadership jointly organized by the European SPES Forum and the Norwegian School of Economics at Bergen Norway during May 2-3,2008 where he presented a paper on ’New Light form Planets Afar: Leadership Journey with The Little Prince’. The same has been accepted for publication in a book titled ’European Literature and Ethics of Leadership’ from Garant Publishers, Antwerp, Belgium.

Prof. Mukherjee is the only scholar from an Asian Institute of Higher Learning invited to attend the Oxford Roundtable on ’Sustainability: The Ultimate Quest’ in Oxford University held during August 10-15, 2008 at Exeter College, Oxford. He specializes in delivering lectures on Inspiring Leadership, Enlightened Governance, Motivation, Non-conventional Sources and Alternative Methods of Learning, Stress Management, Values and Ethics in Business, Corporate Social Responsibility and similar other topics in India and abroad to management students, corporate executives, business consultants, fellow academics and diverse constituencies of audience.
